This is an original pochoir (highly refined technique of making fine limited editions of stencil prints, often called hand coloring, or hand illustration) created by hand via the Pellerin family in France

Constructions: Pellerin is one of the originators of toy paper models of any kind. They are also called constructions. They are usually in color. The antique models include many French buildings, many foreign buildings but with a particular preference for buildings in the French Empire, so that Indo-China and North Africa are particularly well represented. In addition to buildings themselves, there are lots of interior rooms with furniture.

In 1796, Jean Charles Pellerin set up the “Imagerie d’Epinal” In France. Printed on Arches paper, pochoir (hand painted using templates) woodcuts of military subjects, Napoleonic history, storybook and folk characters, as well as flyers for businesses and political parties, alphabet literature and other educational materials, riddles, illustrated songs, and paper cutouts were widely distributed throughout the 19th century.
Provenance: From the residual estate inventory of The Golden Griffin Gallery/Arts Inc., operated in New York City, New York from the 1950s to the 1970s. In the 1950s, the Gallery formed a partnership with Pellerin Imagerie, becoming the sole distributor for Pellerin Imagerie in North America.
The Estate is now in possession of the residual inventory.
